Debut Novel Fox Halt Farm by Celia Moore
My debut novel Fox Halt Farm will be published on November 1st 2017 and I am so happy that I embarked on this scary adventure. I have started this blog too because I want to talk about my incredible journey so far.
It all began early in the new year. I didn’t record the date, I didn’t know at the time how significant a moment it was.
I am a gardener, and in the winter months, I am supposed to be building my artistic blacksmith portfolio. I have managed a webstore, I have taught more than twenty different outdoor pursuits, I have worked in a factory sewing body-protectors for horse riders and I was once a chartered surveyor but nowhere on my cv is there any mention of writing. So, in that life-changing moment when I told my husband over breakfast, that I wanted to write a novel, why didn’t my darling man say, ‘What Celia? What are you talking about?’ Instead, the words he used are still ringing in my ears every day; he said, ‘Do it darling. Don’t not do it and live your life wondering if you should have.’ Paul offered his total support without any detail at all about what my prospective novel might be about, or why I suddenly felt an overwhelming need to write.
Eight months have gone by, and since then, I have slaved over a hundred and twenty thousand words and deleted thirty thousand of them! I have made loads of new aquantainces in this totally new world to me of writing and books. I have found wonderful people on the internet, all with a shared passion, and so many of these have been unbelievably happy to help me. I have learnt loads about social media (and now I know how little I know!)
Everything is coming together, and even though there is still a lot more to do and organise, I am so pleased I took up the challenge. I am so looking forward to writing this blog too. I will post a short blog each week, a chronicle of my tentative discoveries about how to write your first novel. I hope you will enjoy reading it. I love hearing about other people’s inspirational journeys too so please get in touch with your experiences. Or just wish me luck!
